I know this may sound cliché; nevertheless, one of my passions in practicing law is to fight against large corporations that take advantage of “the little guy” – the individual employee, consumer or small business owner. I’m fortunate to have my own practice that allows me to choose my cases and clients. In the past couple of months, we’ve been able to save homes from foreclosure and obtain great class action settlements on behalf of consumers and employees.

On the flipside, we’ve also suffered a major loss in a case where a lazy judge simply got it wrong. Even though we expect to win on appeal, the major and negative consequences suffered by my client are heartbreaking and tough to process. While losing comes with the territory, especially in the areas I practice, it doesn’t make it easier. So if I’ve been distant, short, or less responsive, please forgive me.
On a lighter note, March is always a great time for spending time with family and friends during our daughters’ spring break. There aren’t many places you can be in the snow/skiing the first half of the week and on a warm, sandy beach the second half of the week. Enjoy our pictures and hope you
had a great spring break as well.

Thank you for all the warm birthday wishes and kind words. I’m blessed to have the continued love and support of an incredible circle of family and friends, and the trust and loyalty of current and past clients. Thank you for those of you who came out to celebrate and indulged my desires to dine and dance.
I’d like to share a part of my daily affirmations concerning Life’s Priorities: God, Family, Friends, Fitness and Health, Business and Wealth. Everything else is noise.

I’m excited to welcome Wendy Hartmann to JLG. She’s a top notch attorney and certified specialist in her field of estate planning, trust, and probate law. According to AARP, over 60 percent of Americans do not have a will or estate plan. Below are 10 benefits of having an estate plan:

  1. Provide for your family in a timely manner;
  2. Designate guardians for your minor children;
  3. Get property to loved ones quickly;
  4. Minimize or avoid court costs;
  5. Spare your family from making difficult decisions;
  6. Reduce taxes;
  7. Make retirement easier;
  8. Plan for incapacity;
  9. Support your favorite cause;
  10. Make sure your business runs smoothly

We look forward to serving you with your estate planning needs.

Happy New Year! We wish you a healthy, prosperous and joyful 2019.

Alex and I recently attended the 2019 Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles Installation Gala. My good friend, co-counsel on multiple cases and outgoing CAALA president Mike Arias graciously hosted us at his table (Thanks Mike!). We were honored to hear heartfelt, inspiring, and motivating speeches from Mike and various awardees, who reminded me of why JLG and I do what we do, and “to give more than you get.” We will continue to serve our clients and fight hard against injustices perpetrated by corporate America, banks, insurance companies and this country’s current misguided administration. We are honored and grateful for the opportunity to be of service.

I also recently watched Lifetime’s documentary “Surviving R. Kelly.” I highly recommend it. I was shocked to learn the extent to which he has blatantly violated the law for decades by physically, sexually and mentally abusing and harassing scores of underage girls and younger women. Certainly, R. Kelly’s “time is up” and we support the “MuteRKelly Movement.”

In 2019, let’s be, do and live better for ourselves, our spouses and children, our extended family, our friends, clients and colleagues, our communities and our great nation. God bless!
